Dr. Amanda Thomas

DVM

Dr. Amanda Thomas obtained her Bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University in 1988, pursuing a career in Business and Marketing with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.  She went on to complete her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in May of 2000.  She is dedicated to her life’s work – helping people and their pets- and feels privileged to be a part of their unique relationship and bond.

Early in Dr. Thomas’ career she designed, built, and managed a large Veterinary Emergency Hospital in Billings, Montana, which she owned with her husband. This hospital served Yellowstone County and eight referring veterinary clinics within the region. It is now the largest veterinary hospital in Montana.

In 2008, she began volunteering time for the start-up organization called World Vets (worldvets.org).  Traveling to developing countries in South and Central America, and Eastern Europe, Dr. Thomas led groups of veterinary students and taught local veterinarians the techniques and skills needed to perform surgeries and provide medical care to animals in rural environments. This continues to be an interest and career endeavor of hers.

Now that Dr. Thomas calls Myrtle Beach her home, she has renovated a former dental office on 21st Avenue North and turned it into the Veterinary Clinic of Myrtle Beach. This exclusively small animal hospital offers clients and patients full-service state-of-the-art diagnostics, and high-quality medical and surgical care.

“Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches” is Dr. Thomas’ Jack Russel Terrier to whom this veterinary practice is dedicated.
