Danielle Young

Danielle started with VCMB in April of 2024. She attended both Quinnipiac University and University of Hartford where she received degrees in English and Psychology. As cliche as it may sound, she absolutely loves animals; her pets have had a huge (positive!) influence on her life and on many of the decisions she has made over the years. She appreciates the opportunity to help care for other people’s pets, and ensure they are healthy and happy. The best thing about working at VCMB for Danielle is the people. Everyone here is kind and dedicated; she has never worked with a more cohesive (and charming!) group of like-minded individuals. Danielle owns five rescue dogs ranging in age from just under 2 years-old to 13.5 years. The eldest is a beagle mix named Lazlo, followed by Willow, an Australian shepherd/Pyrenees+ mix, Ruby, a pint-size Labrador mix, and Cora and Juno, two Australian shepherd/German shepherd/Husky mix sisters. When she’s not working, she enjoys reading, playing video games, and spending time at the park or hiking with her dogs. She also recently got back into drawing/illustration after a long hiatus. Her primary interest is in animal care itself: not just feeding and general maintenance but play and enrichment activities. She likes coming up with new ways to engage pets that allow them to use all their senses, which is far more satisfying for them. Danielle grew up with animals of all kinds, including, but not limited to, assorted reptiles (snakes, lizards, turtles), birds, dogs, cats, guinea pigs and rabbits. It was very much a menagerie! While she only owns dogs at this point in her life, those formative years spent with such a variety of pets have made her a more responsible, more empathetic person. It doesn’t matter what species she is dealing with; she will always have their comfort and best interests at heart.
